Love and Bravery Across the Stars

Join Ana, Ken, Cal, and Lorina as They Navigate Disaster, Love, and Hope in a Thrilling Sci-Fi Adventure

Journey Begins in Star City

The story starts in Star City (STC), on the Moon, in the year 2252. Star City is the only residential city on the Moon and it supports a little over a thousand people. (See map and description at the front of every book).

First you’ll meet Ana. She lives in the house she grew up in, in Star City. Then you’ll meet Ken, who lives in New York City. Ana graduated, in 2250 From Lunar University, Ken the same year from New York University.

They met several months ago, in New York City. Months later, Ken was waiting at the spaceport to get on his spaceflight to Star City, to visit with Ana, when the crash took place there. Ana called him and told him that the flight was going to be canceled. Ken was determined to be there to see her, see how he actually does it!

Soon, you’ll have the pleasure of meeting with Ana’s friend, Lorina, who also lives in Star City. You’ll also meet Ken’s co-worker and best friend, Callum, Cal for short. The two work together at Marshall Space Exploration and Mining Company exploring planets and other celestial bodies for usable minerals.

To the Moon Series

To the Moon

Their journey begins on September 27th 2252. That morning a small maintenance magnetic-levitation (mag-lev) crashed into some residences in Star City. Ana was called to respond to the emergency and she knew Ken’s visit to Star City would be canceled, so she called him at the spaceport in New York City, told him the flight would be cancelled and then she got cut-off from the call. Ken took it as Ana hanging up on him.

Within minutes, the Spaceport people cancelled the flight

This book tells a lot about how people live in Star City and the challenges of living on the moon.

On Their Way

The story continues in “On Their Way.”

It’s a cool evening in a small farm area in New Jersey. A group of amateur terrorists has pulls up to a farmhouse they will be renting for a few days while they prepare to strike their target.

The FBI has been given a smattering of Intel on a terrorist group that might be preparing something and that’s just about all they have. The Bureau has computers listening to calls on the phone system that might help them. The next day, they hear something that tips them off.

Tom Rutledge, (whom you met in Book 1) at the Jet Propulsion Lab is learning about his new job as a project manager of an experimental and expensive new spaceship that will exceed the speed of light in its travels, enabling a crew to go to stars that are far distant for current technology. As time progresses and the ship is nearing ready, Tom decides who he wants to crew it.

While these things are going on, Ana, Lorina, Ken and Cal are working on building an engineering design company, based in Star City, with Ana as the boss. Later in that afternoon, Cal receives an FBI phone call that he may have become a target for an unknown group and he is told there is the possibility of a ‘hit’ out for him. But the FBI doesn’t have any more info for him than that.

Cal, is in Star City and he hears of a friend in a hospital in New York City who has been assaulted and is badly hurt. He books a flight from Star City to New York for that same day. As he arrives in New York, a group of FBI agents are waiting for him to retrieve his luggage. He is told by them that they believe the hit-man is here at the airport ready to take Cal out and they use him as bait to try to catch the killer.

What happens to Cal after this will surprise you!

To The Stars

Ken and Cal start their training at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) with Tom on the faster-than-light ship. After their training is completed, they begin their journey, but cannot escape the feelings they have that something is not right at home and with them being billions of miles from home, there is no possibility for them to communicate. They both agree to complete the mission.

After the guys leave on their trip, Ana is rushed to the Star City Hospital running a high-fever. Lorina stays with her to and at the hospital.

Lorina finds herself in the same position as the guys, no way to communicate with them.

Ken and Cal are approaching the target planet and the ships sensors show a large quantity of Leantonium, in which a thin layer is impervious to radiation, on the surface of this planet. This mineral is in huge demand in the entire solar system because the supply is scarce here.

As Ken and Cal are loading the ship’s sample bin, an accident occurs that forces Ken to close the mission and immediately head for home.

And Home Again

Cal and Ana are both recovering.

Lorina surprises Cal with an announcement.

Ken gets permission to take the Ripper ship on a one day trip with his Father, David, and Bill Corey, Maintenance Director of Star City, as passengers. Bill and David are pleased with the destination that Ken has offered.

Ana has been working on a contract with Star City for several years, she receives a call from Bill Corey which is loaded with good news for her and her company, Lunar Design Associates, (LDA). Everyone gets to work on the contract being ready to start in two weeks.

The weekend before the kick-off of the work, Tom Rutledge gives Cal permission to take the Ripper out again for an afternoon. You should see where they are going to go for their afternoon trip!

Cal allows Ana to fly the Ripper and Ana finds Ripper to be an easy spaceship to fly.

Once at their destination, in the early afternoon, Ana asks if they can go somewhere else that’s different from a planet. She would like to bring home some samples from wherever they go.

Lorina is so pregnant that she is miserable most of the trip. Cal does his best to care for her. She wants to get the pregnancy over with, but the baby’s not making any moves in that direction yet. Early the next morning, Lorina’s water breaks and they rush her to the hospital. A huge surprise awaits them on arrival.

To Build Their Futures

The day before the contractor, Lunar Robotic Construction, (LRC), begins the work of building a two-level office building in the spaceport, then lifting it out to the Entertainment Center, both contractors are very busy. This is a very critical moment for both as they are building each companies future on the moon.

Bill Corey had advertised for hiring a lifter pilot that had experience lifting millions of pounds with a heavy-load maglev. Ken told Cal about the open position and encouraged him to apply for it, which he did. Bill got Cal’s submittal and hired him, right away. You’ll learn how everything is prepared and the process of delivering nearly three million pounds of structure is moved in the future.

Mayor Steve, both Mayor and Governor of the city, is looking for ideas for Star City’s future. Steve knows Ana well, so he approaches her at the Luna Café coffee shop and asks if she has any ideas. Instead, Ana points him towards Lorina and Lorina gives him an idea she has, to build the future of Star City.

Steve listens and likes her idea so much that he hires her to work part-time, at first. Later, he is so impressed with her ideas that he offers her a full-time position and a large wage to go along. You’ll like her ideas too!

Ana and the rest of the associates meet and review the future of Lunar Design Associates. Read about where they believe the future is going to take them and Star City.
